When the air was full of sweet grapes, the breeze
whispered to the villagers that the harvest season was coming. At the first full
moon night, there was going be a ceremony, an adult ritual.
The campfires were dancing in the darkness, with the
moon and fireflies glowing in the sky. All the villagers were celebrating for
the young boys to become adults. When the boy is 16 years old in Northshire
Valley, he will be awarded a cape, usually handmade by his mother, and a
weapon, usually prepared by his father. Mufasa, the oldest wiseman in the
village will give him his sacred totem, a necklace in the shape of an animal. It’s
also a symbol of Northshire Valley. The next day, he will be sent to Kalimor, a
school in Stormwind City, where he will choose his profession and learn skills
in three years. After graduated all the students will be recruited and only the
best of them will be chosen to follow Uther Lightbringer, the leader of the
Light Army.
This year, we have 5 boys, who receive their totems.
I gain the owl of wisdom. I’m not
quite sure if I deserve this Wisdom. The only thing I know is that I will be
trained as a Priest, like my parents.
“Mom, do you think I can become an excellent Priest
in Kalimdor like HIM?” I look at my Mom, when she put the cape on my
shoulder.
“What do you mean, Leo?” Mom is trying to tie the
cape under my chin. I can smell herbs from her hair when we are this close. The
smell always helps me calm down since the night I lost HIM. That night I cried and
cried until my Mom cuddled me to sleep.
“I mean, eh…there are so many gifted kids from
the whole Goldshire every year. And I heard it’s hard to master all the spells
in 3 years. Besides, since I healed the bird in my 10 years birthday, I didn’t
get any improvement. The Holy
spell, I don’t know... How about if I’m not qualified to be a Priest in the end?”
I can still see my reflection in my Mom eyes, although
I’m a head taller than her this year.
“I want to be as good as Him. He followed Master
Uther to the Battlefield. He marked his name on the Wall of Glory in Kalimor. What
a great honor is that! How about I’m not that good, Mom”
She lifts her dark-emerald eyes, staring at me,
her only son. “You father is one of the greatest Priest I’ve ever seen, Leo. You
have shown your talent when you were 10. I know you have lot of pressure when
you have a model like your father. But I never worried about you. You are going
to Kalimor, it will prepare you like it did for your father. ”
We sit by the campfire the whole night, talking
about how my mother discovered my ability and what might happen in the further
3-years study. My mother raised me
by herself after the Final Battle took my father. It was the most brutal war in
Azshara history. The Light Army, led by Uther Lightbringer, fought against Dark
Army from the Forbidden Sea. The bloodbath lasted 5 years and thousands
Priests, Warriors, Hunter, and Shaman lost their lives. The final victory famed
Goldshire in one night, as most Priests came from it. And my father became a
hero of Northshire Valley. He shed his blood on the field and in return he won the
respect from all civilian in Azshara.
One month after the funeral, my mother decided to
serve in the village. Every week she guided the children to study those old
scriptures of the Light and explained the doctrine. She tried to find those
gifted kids and taught them the basic spells until they are 16 years old. With
her Priest healing ability, she’s also the only doctor in our village.
That night, all the boys and their parents were
camping together till next morning. This will be the last family time until the
boys are officially recruited in the Army.
When the first daylight came through the cloud, I
knew I have to start my journey, a journey to become a Priest, a journey to
follow my father’s footsteps, a journey to service Azshara, my beloved country.
… …
The training for Priests is
beyond my expectation. None will fail to graduate from school but it’s not easy
to pass the SUPREME GRADE and be a qualified Priest. There are 4 houses in
Kalimor, the Priest House, the Hunter House, the Mage House and the Shaman
House. Most of the students are sent there by the parents with their talented
discovered in the early age, like me. But still, there are some tests to
identify the specifics, for example, Priests are commonly considered one of the
standard healing classes as they can strongly boost the healing done to their
allies, including spells that can be used to heal multiple fighters at one. On the other hand, Priests are also
capable of very powerful ranged damage with their unique Shadow ability. A
Shadow Priest focuses primarily on damage absorption and mitigation.
(Present day…)
This is another 100 years after the Light Army
fought against the Dark Master. Azshara was badly destroyed through all the
battles. All the races, Blood elf, Draenel, Dward, Goblin and Human, are
looking for alliances to support each to survive. Light Army is still the main
force to again the invaders. And I am one of the Light Army. Even I have been
fought for a century, I still hard to believe that the war was declared by
Master Uther. To gain the most powerful spell in the world, Master Uther tried
to learn the dark spell from the Ancient Spirit. But he underrated the power of
these spirits. Once the spirit was released from the spell, they turned him
into another Uther, the Dark Master, who’s thirsty for blood and hungry for
power.
I'm Leo Marcenas, son of Leonard Marcenas, the
Great Holy Priest.
I was born in Northshire Valley of the Goldshire.
I was the best student of Uther Lightbringer before
he fell into the dark spell and lost his mind.
I was a faithful believer of Master Uther before he
betrayed his country and declared the Massacre in Azshara.
I’m Leo Marcenas, the leader of the Light
Army.

Hi Mala,
DeleteTks for your comment. The reason why I'm into game ff is, probably, most of my friends are wow gamer and I have read some ff before. To be honest, the stories are more attractive to me stead of the game itself.

Well done! Awesome work!
Hey Christina,
ReplyDeleteIt was very interesting that you chose a game for your fan fiction. The structure, grammar and vocabulary was very well done and this helps portray the whole atmosphere of the games story line.
Seems very professional and I believe that you really should keep writing on this piece of fan fiction!
